Nyu, Itha, Titin, and I went to the Venue at Hyatt Ballroom on 7.30. A little bit late, but fortunately the door was still opened. Anyway it wasn't a full philharmonic orchestra, but it's a chamber one. The Concert Program consist of Jangeran based on a theme by Otto Sidharta (Watson), Concerto for Violin and Cello, Op. 102 in A minor (Brahms), and Symphony No.6 Op. 74 in B minor "Pathetique" (Tchaikovsky). Don't ask me about what those number mean. I don't have any idea. I have asked wiki, but I don't get it. I'll give it another try, later.
Jangeran
This one was interesting, since it combine Balinese Gamelan, Balinese Dance and the Orchestra. I, myself, was a gamelan player back then, so it was like back to those great time.
Concerto for Violin and Cello, Op. 102 in A minor (Brahms)
Consist of 3 parts. The first part almost made me sleep. :)
The conductor (Hikotaro Yazaki) stopped the concert for a moment since he "felt" some noise. What?? Sir.. I don't even hear any disturbing noise. Wow.. he's so talented. He can hear such a noise. After a few minutes, the concert went on.
Phuuh.. I was trying to understand the music when the tempo suddenly slow and the music stop. And then I hear a sound *mbwok* came out from one of the woodwinds. I almost fell from my chair. And rolling on the floor, laughing. But.. I didn't want to make a scene, did I? =)) I thought it was just a voice in my head, since I started to imagining things. To make my imagination complete, that voice came, remind me of someone, actually. (Your *mbwok* was so similar with that one!) ^_^ I have confirmed with the other girls after the concert, they DID hear the voice.. so I wasn't make up anything! I'm not crazy, yet.
after 15' rest, the next one was:
Symphony No.6 Op. 74 in B minor "Pathetique" (Tchaikovsky)
Great piece. I really enjoy this one. Especially the piece with fast tempo. Hmm.. I love the music which can give a mysterious yet grand atmosphere. And the last part of this piece remind me on one advert on TV. Nice one :D
So.. it was a great night after all. :D
Yet...
Something in the program book bothered me, it says:
...So much has been written about Tchaikovsky's emotional power in his music, and his rather tragic end. Either he died of cholera by accident or committed suicide by drinking unboiled water. The debates are still going on.Whatttt??? Committed suicide by drinking unboiled water? What's in that water? How many coliform? Containing uranium maybe? Anyone..?? Any idea?
